Wednesday night 3/31, Mont Alto ride

I can't make it Thursday this week so the amazingly elastic, but not fully recovered Willy Washington and I are going to ride Wednesday night at Mont Alto about 5 p.m. The doctor cleared Willy for the trails, but we are going to take it easy anyway (as easy as you can take it on singlespeeds that is).

So please, join us, for a fun paced ride on what is supposed to be a very nice evening. Post up if you think you will show.

EDIT: Johnny Utah most likely won't be there on the advice of medical professionals. I still plan to ride.

29er Fork wanted for Gary Fisher Rig

Anyone have a 29er fork hangin' about? I'd like to have some suspension on the front of this Rig I got from Chuck though I like how light the bike is without it. Coming from 140mm of travel on the Prophet to fully rigid is just a bit farther than I wanted to go.

Here....forkey forkey!

Waynesboro

Greenbrier

Folks,
I've volunteered at this race several times in the past and raced it a few times. I know some MBMers do it too. I got this message from the promoter looking for volunteers, so thought I'd post it here in case anyone likes to help out in exchange for free race entries. It's the same weekend as the club meeting, though there is work being done on Saturday, and I've helped on Fridays before too, so I know there's plenty to do there. It's a big race getting even bigger. It's good for our sport whether we like it or not. I have the spreadsheet he references and can send it to you if you want to see what jobs are available.

Nothing in Michaux SF was harmed or helped by this post

Dear Previous Helper,

Thanks for helping with our Greenbrier MTB race and Junior Olympic race in years past. We will be doing it again this year on Sunday Apr 25, and the race will also now be the first race in a new 4-race Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship, so lots of racers will be coming! We could really use your help. Plus, any friends, family, or acquaintances that you can invite to help will be greatly appreciated as well!

I've attached the current volunteer position list so you can see the specifics.

Benefit: For each 3 hours of work done, the volunteers will earn a free race at any PVC event, either for themselves or for someone they designate. You'll also be doing a great service for the local bike racing community and enabling a big contribution to Trips for Kids charity.
Key Needs: There are many different types of jobs on Apr 25, including:
- Course Marshalling (especially needed)
- Venue Set-Up
- Racer Registration
- Computer Data Entry
- Helping with Kids Race at 12:45 for a half hour
- Posting Score Tags
- Trail Maint on Apr 11 and Start/Finish Set-up on Apr 24
If you can help, please contact me with desired time slot, and need areas where you can help, at jcarlsonida at yahoo dot com
Thanks,
Jim Carlson

You thought winter was over!

Day 2 Snowmass is at the bottom. We got 18" of new snow.

Day 3 Snowmass is at the top (12,600 feet). The bowl below this edge was massive, steep and covered with new powder. Why does winter have to end?

See you all Sunday.

Today's Road Ride

I hope this is my last road ride for a bit, but it was fun. 27 miles with 3400 feet of climbing. It included Harmburg Road and Coxey Brown. I think Coxey is tougher than either Harp Hill or Hamburg. Those roads were built for cars. Coxey is built for ox carts.

Back O' The Pack Resurfaces!

Too nice not to ride tonight! Heading to Mont Alto to ride something. Be there about 5pm if anyone is interested.

Thursday Evening?

Does the Thursday evening ride start this week?

Free

I have a set of Bontrager XDX TLR 29X2.1 tires in very good condition.
They were stock tires with tubes. No sealant ever. No punctures. Very little wear.
If interested let me know.
Tuesday they're trash.

It's Time

Did an exploratory ride today in old forge area. Trails are rideable, some snow patches but plenty of good trails. The season begins!

Gotta love this weather!

I was able to get in some XC-sking this weekend, as well as several road rides on Monday-Wednesday. In between all of this, I was also able to start work on a custom fencing project that I had planned over the winter. This was taken from the overlook on Tower road, above Cowan's Gap

The snow pack was about 1-2 feet, down from 3-4 feet three weeks ago.

Red Extra Swix and Jack Rabbit Klister worked their charm on this soft snow.

The start of the fencing project. The pile of Yew hedge was about 1/3 of what was cut, and pulled up, for the start of the fencing that will be replacing it.

In between, I was able to enjoy the mornings for several delightful road rides around the Fayetteville/Shippensburg/Orrstown area.

Ride

Crash and i are doing a road ride from Fay. at 10am. We are meeting at the Fay. elementary school. Hope to get around 30 miles. Sorry for the late notice

worth it

surprisingly good skiing still out there
solid base, ski anywhere you want
over logs, around trees, dodging rocks
anywhere there was snow, you could count on its consistency

Road Ride Sunday

If anyone wants to ride in the Frederick area, let me know. If anyone wants to lead a PA ride, I can go out there.
