how old are the kids that usually do this, I have a five year old with not much endurance (just like his dad). He loves to ride his bike on trails, so this sounds great. Thanks John
Our rides so far have been about 3.5 miles. Start up the paved/gravel Old Shippensburg Road, then loop back on the creek trails.
Some kids walk up parts of the first climb. Some walk some of the last trail climb. Some walk the creek crossings and other technical sections. We say, "welcome to mountain biking", we all walk some things.
The idea of course is to make it as easy and fun for little kids as possible so that they want more. Finding suitable loops in Michaux for this is a huge challenge, and so far we haven't veered from our standard loop.
I appreciate the info, I don't think my son is ready for the 3.5 mile loop. He rides about 2 now, but on hard surfaces. On the trail he is slow and timid, so I usually run behind him. I think my best bet is to take him solo, as to not hold up the group. Though apart of me thinks he would do better when he sees other kids knocking it out. Also, is it better to come freeway or from 233. I live in chambersburg

My clan will be there. 2 adults and 3 kids.
This is the parking lot near the new concession/beach/bath house, not the one nearest the Furnace stack.
I see the future club pres with an MBM jersey on!! Nice! This is first class stuff. Thanks Camps!!

I think our age range has been 6-12. The kid pictured is one of our youngest.
