Tuesday Ride (Wednesday?)

Rumor has it that Scott our ride leader is out of town so her I am making a late post about the Tuesday ride. If anyone wants to join I plan to ride Tuesday @4:30p from Caledonia. If a different time and/or location works better for you let me know.
Slayer - this does not make me the ride leader. Slowride will be the ride leader whether he is there or not. Maybe Slowride will even let us ride some singletrack.

Also - anyone interested in riding Wednesday - start time around 5p (depending on location)?

PARKWAY BIKE SAFETY RODEO 10/10

More kids are riding their bikes to school this year than ever so we thought it would be a good idea to have a bike safety rodeo at Parkway Elementary School. This is a FREE event focusing on bike safety and bike handling sponsored by State Farm Agent, Darius Mark and the Bike Doctor of Frederick.

RIDE

Sunday I will be riding from Caledonia. I would like to get started about 8:45am. We can go make fun of all the Cross riders trying to be mountain bikers. Or the other way around make fun of mountain bikers trying to be Cross riders. Either way it will be a blast to watch. Good luck to all who are doing the Iron Cross. We will be happy to help you anyway we can.

Planning ahead = good costumes

Hey MBMers! Halloween is coming up. Whaddya say we celebrate by making the Mont Alto Thursday night ride (Oct 29th), a ride IN costume?? If any of you boys need help with a costume, I’ve got an old Hooters outfit laying around you can borrow (you are required to wear bike shorts underneath however). OR you could take the easy route and costume as a baby using the Teaberry Tshirt as your diaper (bike shorts not required underneath).
Who’s in? You’ve got over 3 weeks to get a costume together.

(The above reference to the Teaberry Tshirt was completely meant as a joke and not to offend any one. I don’t understand the drama related, not do I want to know. And for the record I actually DO like the color of the Tshirt).

Tuesday Back O' The Pack

We'll ride from Mont Alto Tuesday at 4:30pm. The plan is to ride on the opposite side of the road from the parking lot up past the Mont Alto Campus. I'm going to wear my blaze orange to fend off the hunters. I know I'll regret asking this but are we crazy? (NOTE Changed Start Time)

OOPS I did it again

My 4 month old Independent Farbrication frame is now headed for the scrap heap. It broke on the left seatstay just above the dropout. No pictures at this time. Those high dollar custume bikes are pure hype. I'm sure they will replace this bike but how long will the next one last.
If we'd dumb down these trails a little more my bikes would last longer.

Light Advice

Now that we've had our dose of pork..........

I'm in the market for a light. I'm going to buy 1 and it needs to be under $200. What would you buy if you were only going to get one light? A bar light? A head light?

Any advice appreciated.

Wednesday Ride

A few of us plan to ride Wednesday (sorry short notice) @5p meeting at the gas line on Rattlesnake run rd. Here is the location -

If you are coming from the south end of Rattlesnake Run Rd the open gas line area will be on your right. The whole road is only about 4 miles long. I would say the gas line is about in the middle at the 2 mile mark (the same distance from either end of the road). Brad, Brian, and I plan to be there by 4:30p so if you are not sure of the location you will find us on the road.

Tuesday Back O' The Pack

After a couple weeks of business travel that has played havoc with my riding I'm ready to get back in the saddle Tuesday. Who's in?

New Iron Cross ride time and place

We're meeting at 1pm at the Long Pine parking lot. We'll join Don Pagano to do his ride. Figure on 3+ hours of riding. The pace will be friendly but we won't stop much.

Non-Non-Iron Cross Ride Sunday??

Considering weather and my hatred of all things Iron-Cross (crotch/GI related injuries during my third attempt), I am considering a decent Road Ride from the Scotland area in the afternoon - 3 or 3:30? Including but not limited to Shippensburg to Big Flat and down through Caledonia. Planning on 40 to 50 miles? Anyone interested? Pace around 17 to 18 average. Post here if interested and we can nail down meeting place.

Non Iron Cross Sunday Ride

Is anybody up for an alternate ride? I would like to meet at the Bendersville Parking Lot and do the old Maximus loop. This will include Fender, 3 mile trail and Grave Ridge. 9:00 departure. new log section!!! at the pump track

I , Larry, Jodi, some others just built a new addition to the pump track. It is a log

section! Some is good for beginners and some is good for more advanced riders! Can't wait to see everyone riding the new addition to the fun in Chambersburg!!!

Sunday Iron Cross ride

Cathy, Trish and I are meeting at Caledonia at 9am and doing about 4 hours of the Iron Cross loop. There are plenty of places to cut out early for you Nancy types. We won't be hammering but we'll ride at a steady pace with no stopping unless necessary. You don't have to have a cross bike. Trish and I will be on our mtn bikes. Bring enough to eat and drink!

Sunday Ride

Anyone doing a Sunday ride? Depending where the ride starts I might be able to make it.

Brad - I was going to post the pictures of you coming down that hellacious drop on Tuesday, but they did not come out well. I need to bring a real camera next time instead of a phone.

New frame on the way!

Jes at Gettysburg Bicycle already has my new frame on the way. It's a 2009 Specialized Tricross Pro. Sweet!

Another broken frame

I went to the final Summit Health ride of the season but didn't get very far. The right chain stay on my Specialized S-Works cross bike broke! That's 2 frames in 2 months.

ANOTHER RIDE OPTION

Dona and I cannot make it to Big Flat in time, so we are meeting at Mt Alto at 5 PM on Wednesday. Join us if you want.
