THEFT: Thieves took enough deer fencing from Michaux State Forest to enclose two acres.
Two rolls of fencing, each 330 feet long, were taken between Oct. 14 and Oct. 19 from Ridge Road in the state forest northeast of Fayetteville, according to the Michaux State Forest Ranger Department.
In addition to the woven wire fencing, a digging bar, ratchet strap and 25 pressure-treated posts were taken.
Anyone with information may call the ranger department at 532-2211

After an intensive 7 month effort our new club homepage is finally up and running. The initial thought behind this homepage was to have it be the "face" of the club.

I'm going to post some of the ride reviews I've done for trails I've ridden while on business trips on a page dedicated to destination rides. If any of you have any ideas about other potential pages for the website let me know. Maybe a bacon page?

Is anyone going to ride Thursday night? I would like to start around 5:30 or so from somewhere. Maybe Mont Alto, maybe not. Open to suggestion. Post up if you can make it or have a preference where and when to ride. Looking to start a little later and use the lights.

Tuesday Ride

Bottom of Quarry Gap Rd. just off 233 at 4:30pm. From Rt.30 head north on 233 and and take 3rd left into Hosack camping area (Quarry Gap Rd.) Bring lights just in case.

Went for a ride above Cowan's Gap today and discovered that a timber sale had taken place and the ridgeline was decimated from Tower Road, north to above Cowan's gap. This area was beautiful, with double/single track for about 7 miles along the ridge. RIP.

RIDE

Sunday will be at Old Forge......Mackey will be included in the ride so if your feeling a little cupcakey bring your walking shoes or maybe stay home and finish watch your recorded soaps. Ride time 9am

Tuesday Ride

Nevada, Samson and I plan to head out from the bottom of Quarry Gap Rd. (northern edge of Caledonia State Park) at 5pm. The more the merrier.

MBM Rocks Check Point 2 at Iron Cross!

MBM did ourselves proud today manning checkpoint 2 at the Iron Cross. We handed out drop-bags to the racers, helped them top off their supplies or locate a repair part like a well oiled machine!

Notice our illustrious leader barking out directions and pointing the way. Dale taking requests from riders. Brian in mid scramble handing out the water and heed and Trevis manning the drop bags.

Too bad there is not a checkpoint competition. We would have OWNED. Thanks to all who came out including spouses, kids and significant others. It was a fun time!

Saturday Ride - Take the Joel Train!

Since many of us are working the Iron Cross Checkpoint Sunday and won't be riding that day as a result I floated the idea of a Saturday ride last night as we toured the wreckage of what used to be Buckets (moment of silence please)

Joel offered to host the ride from his house and says he'll put a nice loop together for us. Bring your climbing mojo since Joel lives at the bottom of Big Flat.

Ride time: 9:00am

The Iron Cross is this Sunday. I'll be at the water station so I won't be riding. It's always fun to ride and watch some of the sections. So if you want to do that you better get it posted. If your racing good luck and if you need something at the 2nd station see me before the race.

A pure blooded MBMer took the podium at the Second Top Secret Beer Run. Believe me when I tell you, that was no small feat. Pat your boy Ho' on the back for whoopin' up on us Cupcakes. Rumor has it that he was by far and away the fastest rider on the lower, fastest, and scariest part of the course.

North Fork Awareness Ride/IMBA Pre-party

I'm posting this for RuthC since she's not yet a member...

Anyone interested in carpool/heading down to the North Fork Awareness Ride/IMBA Pre-party in Harrisonburg on Saturday then to WV on Sunday for the ride?? I plan on leaving saturday late afternoon, car camping in harrisonburg saturday night, then back to chambersburg late sunday evening. The ride is open to anyone, but basically expect an all day ridge riding with a larger group. There will be a few options for anyone wanting to ride a longer route....I will probably do the longer route if I feel up to the pace.

@X10 drive train 2011

Didn't know if anyone from shops got to bike show this pass week. I'm looking at buying a 29er that 2011 model. It has the new shimano 10 speed gears. Want people opinion on the gear ratio:

27/40 crank with 12-36 cassette. Wasn't sure if it better than 9 speed for climbing or middle range for rock gardens. I'm looking at going 1X9 gear for salsa bike, but not sure if leave it with 10 speed or convert down to 1X9.

Sunday will be at Caledonia. We will do some stuff different. Sometimes when you ride stuff backwards it makes them feel like new trails, so Sunday will be backward day. Ride time 9am

Is anybody interested in a ride tonight? Mont Alto? Caledonia? The pace will be steady but not fast. I'm just looking to get some miles in and have some fun.

I rode with all of Mooch's friends at Mont Alto last night. Coal Hearth had a lot of debris and there are a couple sections that have been logged/cleared.

MBM is doing a IC check point HELP OUT!

Hello all! The call is going out for volunteers for Iron Cross 2010 on Sunday Oct. 10th! We need volunteers! We are going to man check point 2! Yes at the top after the hike a bike on the power line! Volunteers will meet in the morning at Camp Thompson before the race. I would like to see at least 8 or more people through the day! Please help out and show everyone how MBM does a check point! EZ ups are welcome and needed! Let me know if you can give a few hours or the whole day!

Spud Ride 2010

If you wankers want to try riding somewhere else, check out the Spud Ride down around York area on the 25th. Many miles, linking together the county parks. Good trails, good times. Check it out.

At least in the prospectus they are supposed to leave the trails clear of tops and slash.
