How bout 2 night rides this week???
I know, a little crazy. I'm going to see Dana Carvey on Thurs, so how about Wed night at 6 from the Reservoir (is that what your plan was, Howard?).
I guess the Thurs will stay Mont Alto at 6.
So:
Wed, 6 at Reservoir
Thurs, 6 at Mont Alto
Got it??

Night ride photos
Apparently I am a nocturnal MBM rider as I can't ever seem to make it to rides during the day. Luckily I made it out Thursday night for my first night ride of the season.

Me and four other like-minded fellows took advantage of the decent temps and the break in the rain to get in a good-natured and fun ride.
IPA's at the top before descending the techy sketch is always a good idea, right?

Left to right: CB aka "Mooch", Brian aka "Slow", Ho' aka "Faster than you", Scott aka "Huey-Hoff"; the man behind the camera - drw aka "Cosmo"
I always forget how fun it is to ride in the dark. Come on out and enjoy the fall temps.

Keefer's Ride on Sunday
Anybody interested in joining me for this ride Sunday?
I thought I'd go and represent MBM - there has been a decision made by your officers to contribute $50 of MBM's fortune. Would anybody like to ride the skinnies with me?
Will be a little chilly at the start, but looks like the weather will be relatively nice. Let me know, I'd love some company.

Jersey Sponsors Needed!
We currently have 2 and one on the hook at the $250 price point.
Please share if you know anyone who would want a $250 or $500 advertisement with a FREE JERSEY! Of course the $500 or more would have larger size and better placement! We can always work something better for more money!

MBM Represents at Iron Cross!
MBM ran the best checkpoint at Iron Cross again this year. David Kegley, Dave Wilson and I did the riding. David took 5th in Singlespeed category, Dave outperformed with a sub 5 hour time of 4:50 something. My hopes of a sub 6 hour time were narrowly dashed by a flat tire and some (manageable) cramps. I came in at 6:09. I'm sure I can better that with more carbs, some changes to the bike and some tire luck next year.

Here is me before the pain looking fresh-faced and noobish

Thanks to Dave and others for encouraging me to run the IC this year. Thanks to everyone that came out to man Checkpoint 2, especially my wife Jill and our boys Peter and Owen. Thanks to everyone who cheered us on!

Let me start with FREE BEER, HOT DOGS, AND SWAG! Plus the benefits of getting the club a $100 donation! If you don't want to go to the start please be at the check point at 10am. We expect racers around 11am. Our rush of racers should be between 11-1245. Please post if you plan to attend! Come support Dave, Scott, and Sue in the race! Zach also needs additional volunteers so if you can help please do! Any questions please ask!!!
CP Location: Top of Stillhouse Hollow Road where it crosses the power line. Take Milesburn Road from 233, go past the reservoir, past Birch Run Road, and at the next fork, go left on Stillhouse Hollow and drive to the top of the mountain and the powerline.

Teaberry Race
I would like to pass on some results from the Teaberry race on Sunday.
Ho came in first place overall for the 20 mile race on an SS!! Gears only slow him down.
DRW came in first place overall for the 20 mile series!! Well done Dr.
Ruth came in Second in the 40 mile Womans. 40 miles of Old Forge would kill most people! Great job Ruth.
Yours truly rolled through the gate during the awards ceremony. I figure I rode 15 and pushed 5! Up the Stooges??? Why???
Fun was had by all. If you know of any other results post them.
Congrats Howard, Dave and Ruth.

2011-12 Hunting Seasons

Its that time of year again. Soon you'll either have to stand out or ride at night.
It looks like Oct 1 is the first day of bow hunting for deer in Michaux.
I've attached links to the WMU map of PA and the 2011-2012 hunting seasons.
Be careful. Have fun.
Michaux is WMU 5A.

RIDE
Sunday will be race day
Good luck to all that are racing
I rode down Yellow ridge today and someone put in some much needed water bars on the down hill at the end. But be aware the water bars are really big and if you hit the first one at speed you'll be in the air for a long time. So start to slow before the down hill and check things out. If you like to catch BIG air go for it.

You need a singlespeed
POSTING FOR BEN SMITH
Very nice singlespeed 29r with a very nice component spec:
$800 local special - if you pick it up, otherwise price is as stated below.
I have used this bike for about one season. I built it mid season about last year this time. I bought the frame from Performance bike and then sent it out to be powder coated translucent burnt orange. The frame and parts are in great shape with just the normal cable rub and small scuffs. The left crank arm has some marks from hitting rocks but nothing that affects the function. The part spec is as follows:
Frame: Access custom powder coated (size LARGE)
Fork: Manitou Minute ABS+
Cranks: Truvativ 1.1
Pedals: Sealed bearing platform
BB: Eccentric Forward Components (no tensioner needed w/ vertical d.o.'s)
Wheels: RB Design hubs w/ WTB rims and alloy nipples
Tires: front Schwalbe Racing Ralph, rear Kenda Nevegal w/ puncture resistance liners in both
Brakes: Hope Mono Mini w/ custom one finger levers,185/160 rotors (I will also include the stock ones)
Stem: Ritchey WCS
Handlebar: Ritchey Carbon
Seatpost: Ritchey Carbon
Grips: ODI Lock-on
Seat: WTB
The seatpost has a crack in it so I'm also including a alloy one. I have been using this post since I built the bike with no problems. I will also include two sets of brake pads and two tires. One Schwalbe Racing Ralph (has a small cut in the side wall) and one new Maxxis Ardent. Asking $1000 and I will drive to meet anyone within 3 hours of Chambersburg, PA. Shipping is available though.
