While enjoying our ride from Caledonia today I nearly ran over a copper colored snake on a stretch of double track. I circled back for a look and Sue declared it dead and decapitated. Dale "the snake handler" then proceeded to check its status by picking it up by the tail. The snake prooved to be very undead and indeed had a head (mouth wide open, fangs etc.). It seems the snake was injured, probably bitten in the head by some other animal, no I did not witness Dale bite the snake. We gently moved him off the road so he does not get tangled in the next riders spokes. I presume this snake is a copper head, if anyone knows better please post.
Looks like a cooperhead to me.
ReplyDeleteMary Moon = deathly afraid of snakes. I didn't make the ride yesterday cause I was in the hospital. I am actually now, after seeing that picture, glad I was in the hospital instead of on the ride. Hope you all had a good one.
ReplyDeleteDale, I wasn't aware you were able to handle such a large snake. Pretty impressive.
ReplyDeletepractice, practice, practice. Some things just come natural and sometimes not.
