Back O' The Pack had a fun ride tonight. We climbed Staley and Rothrock, then descended Four Logs and Turtle. From left to right in the pic above are Scott, Peter, Brian, Alex, Chris and Matt.
I think we should ride from the Mont Alto parking lot which is just past the Mont Alto Penn State campus on Route 233. Just across from the parking lot is a circular pavilion that is easy to spot. This will make it easier to get everyone together and to start on time. Let's be ready to ride at 5:00pm. Plan to ride for about 2 hours. Bring plenty of water and some energy food to eat just before and during the ride.
Hey, this is Matt (been riding with the group on thursdays recently). Ill plan on joining you guys this tuesday if it's cool. Ive never done any trails near the Teaberry lot and would like to explore some of them. Ill meet you guys at the mont alto lot at 5 ready to ride!
Matt you should give the Dark Hollow race a whirl this Sunday. You are the fastest beginner I have seen going up hill. You are ready to tear up the 10 miler, you probably would do pretty well at the 20 miler also.
I wish i could do the race this sunday, but my family is having a get together at the same time in delaware so i will be out of town. Otherwise i would be all over it, i really enjoyed the long pine classic race a couple weeks back.
The "Back O' The Pack" is just the name I've given to rides I am organizing that are in addition to the regular Thursday and Sunday rides. It's for beginners, people who want to put in some extra work to bring up their skills or fitness, etc.. This past Tuesday we rode 7.5 miles of a fire road climb and singletrack descent. Last week we road the Sport loop of the Long Pine Classic. I try to adjust the ride difficulty to suit whoever shows up. The main reason I call it "Back O' The Pack" is that is where I always am on regular club rides. :-)
Can you post directions to the meeting place or start. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI'll be there.
ReplyDeleteI figured after Saturday this is a fitting name.
I'll be in town this week and I'm going to try to make it also.
ReplyDeleteCould you please give directions to Teaberry lot, or if you're planning on leaving from Mont Alto, what time there?
I as well would like to join, How long does that ride usally take? I meet at the mont alto park.
ReplyDeleteGood job on the Back O' the Pack rides Scott. It's great to see all this new interest.
