Teaberry

MBM racer Josh "Bucky" Spencer spanks all comers in today's 20 miler actually (23.2). Thats the good news. The "bad" news for Josh is the spontaneous demand from the crowd during the awards presentation that he advance to the 40+ mile crowd! Congratulations to all of the MBM first timers including a strong finish by Brad in the 20, Scott in the 10 and a valiant attempt derailed by tire issues for Brian. Matt won the 10 for the old guys. Many other strong finishes by the seasoned regulars, to many to list. And koodos to Chuck for reversing the finish order from the last race, (yea he got me, 3 minutes). Next year chuck, I concede iron cross in advance.

Thanks to all of my fellow racers for making this event so much fun, thanks to the volunteers and G-burg for putting on a good event, best T-shirt to date.

  1. Congrats to Bucky BUT the t-shirts are f*cking stupid. I wouldn't even wash my car with that t-shirt.

  2. Welll, you can partially blame me for the t-shirts. Look back a few months to see where the offense occurred.

Brian F. finished the 40 with 7 flats!

  3. The shirts show the hubris of the "michauxslovakian mafia" however it still made me laugh. I don't take anything on those shirts to seriously.

  4. That was the best five miles of my life! Yea I know, the race was ten. Maybe next time. Thanks to all that waited for me at the top of any hill this past year. I tried like hell today.
To those that finished and those that won, good show!
It was pretty cool to see all the MBM jerseys.

Nevada was at the final rest stop on the 40 loop. He was back in the parking lot hanging out after most had left. Gotta love volunteering!

I had a great weekend, I'm glad so many others did too.

  7. Great day for a ride! Had fun despite overhydrating and fighting cramps from about mile 2 onward.

  11. I'm just thankful The "mafia" allowed MBM (and we outnumbered even G-burg jerseys) to ride in their forest for the race. How gracious of them! And by the way: I REALLY need a new Cross bike and I will definately be checking out Merv's! Oh and I think I will only do Zack Adams' races from now on in Michaux.

  12. Trish - The Cycle Works has a 51" Redline in stock for around $800. I don't know what components are on it though. I emailed you info on a Bianchi 'cross bike too. Good luck!

  13. Rob - yes a spa day right up my alley! I had a mud facial it was great.
Actually I was just lazy. Rode with a few guys early in the morning before the race and then helped at the last aid station on the 40 mile. Sorry I missed most of you. I was hoping to be back sooner. See you on the trails.

  15. T shirt is great!. Somehow, they come up with consistently good T shirts. This might be the best, with its bit of local humor. Thanks to Gburg for another fun race.

  16. Lightly used 26er tire for sale. Only 40 miles on it. And I ride great lines so I'm sure it's fine. (not compatible with Stan's anymore)

  17. Don't sweat it Josh. They gave me $hit years ago when I won the clydesdale category. Even back then, I wish I wasn't over 200.
