This is no joke. HB 1760.
Check it out HERE. It's a short and sweet bill--two pages.
Excerpts from the text:
"Amending Title 34 (Game) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, permitting hunting on Sunday.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania hereby enacts as follows:

"Section 2. Title 34 is amended by adding a section to read:

Oh boy.
ReplyDeleteI really can't believe this.
We need to bring this to the attention of every outdoors organization that we can.
The horses, hikers, trailrunners, summit bike, roadrunners, boy scouts . . . that's our sundays!!
We respect their hunting days, we should be able to enjoy sundays.
Do we know how long it will be in committee?
Todd Rock is the Vice Chair of the committee, so anybody in his districts should contact him.
If we would want to have a little meeting to organize a little, I have beer!
Sent out my email to my reps. and i'm going to stop by Mr.Turd Rocks office in Greencastle tomorrow to personally drop of my letter expaining how hunters pointed a rifle at myself and some other donuts behind the Mont Alto campus. I work 1 block from Mr. Rocks office so if anyone needs me to drop off a letter just let me know. We really need to hammer these noodle heads with email and letters so they get the point.
ReplyDeleteI do think a meeting at Dave's house to drink be....er discuss this issue would be a good idea!

ReplyDeleteMobilize the political arm of MBM!
ReplyDeleteCrush any opposition!
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself! (and spiders. and snakes.)
Senator Alloway is the Chair of the Senate Game and Fisheries Committee.
ReplyDeleteI sent my rep an email about being opposed to this bill to which he replied "have you tried that beer yet?"
ReplyDeletehave you????
ReplyDeleteAgree with all the above. I am not in Rock's district. Sent message to Alloway.
ReplyDeleteJody - thanks for relaying the rifle story.
Should we provide everyone an already typed draft response? With the hope that there is a better chance of people sending messages with a pre-drafted template. Who has the master writing skills? DRW? He is a Dr! His wife?
Rob Kauffman is my rep, and he replied with this: I sent something to Alloway too, but no response.

Thanks for your e-mail on this subject. I agree wholeheartedly and do not intend to support Sunday hunting. I believe that an overwhelming majority of our local sportsmen agree with us that Sunday hunting is not necessary.
Over the past seven years as I have answered questions for the NRA, I have always told them I would OPPOSE Sunday hunting if it ever came for a vote. Although I have always been supported by the NRA & they are 100% behind this initiative, I will have to part ways with them on this one issue.
I would encourage you to contact Senator Alloway on this issue. He is Chairman of the Senate Game & Fisheries Committee. He can singlehandedly block consideration of this legislation in the Senate as this bill would be referred to his Committee.
Thanks again for weighing in on this issue.
I received a similar response from Kauffman and no reply from Alloway - he has a much bigger district as a senator, though.
ReplyDeleteMy sense from talking to people about this over the weekend is that Alloway is one of, if not the, main proponents of this bill. It is reassuring to hear Kauffman's stance. Has anyone heard from Rock?
It sounds like any opposition opinion presented to Alloway may be falling on deaf ears. Doesn't mean we can't talk louder and slower, though. I am finding that a lot of supporters of Sunday hunting haven't heard any opposing opinions other than from jesus and the landowners and the animal-huggers (sounds like an 80s band). Maybe we have a viewpoint that needs to be heard.
Is there any interest in meeting with him? Waste of time? Anyone see any benefit in meeting with Rock?
I'll meet with Alloway or his staff, try to set something up.
ReplyDeleteI'd try to make that Alloway meeting. I wonder if the PATC wound get on board with this issue. One of you well spoken types should fire off an email to them. Or just call Finney!
