Would there be any interest from anyone to call into work sick and go riding for a day sometime in the next 2 or 3 weeks. Maybe Raystown for a day trip or any place someone would recomend.
I'll throw out 2 dates. Tuesday march 13 or Thursday march 22. let me know if either of those dates work. I am self employed, so I can be pretty flexible if another day is better for others.
swatara is a lot like raystown but smaller. no major climbs no big descents. the trails are fast and smooth and are single track unlike the 1 1/2 track at raystown. It is a state park so there should be some info to be found online. The drive from the C-burg area is roughly the same as Raystown.
I checked it out on YouTube and the parks website. Looks good to me. My question is, Can we waste a day there? If so, sounds good to me. Does the 22nd work for you guys?
I've ridden Swatara a couple times and they are some fun trails but for me its not worth missing a day of work(can't beleive I just said that). I've rode at Raystown several times and there are still trails I haven't ridden so if anyone is up for a day at Raystown on the 22nd or a different day I'm in. I've also heard good things about Rothrock state forest but have never ridden there.
I was actually hoping for Raystown too. Clown, are you open for Raystown? I have never been to either place, so I am trusting you guys, but I have heard alot more about Raystown.
Sure Raystown is good too. I've ridden Raystown several times and it's still plenty fun. It's not at all technical but it's very easy to let your need for speed get you in trouble. And there is a nice place in Huntington to grab a sandwich and a beer after the ride.
Im open for the entire day and I get up early, so we can leave as early as everyone wants. Shawn, you live in carlise right? Do you want to meet up somewhere and carpool up or just meet us at Raystown? I would assume we could meet in Shade Gap/Orbisonia area. Would that make it easier for you?
I'm waiting to see if another guy from Carlisle can get off work and go along. How many are coming from your area? I'm hoping Jesse is also going along.
I am working on getting a few more guys to come along, but all i know now is Clownbike. He hasn't responded to this thread again, but I thought i would re-enter a post on Monday about the sick day, but maybe i should do it now and see if anyone else is avaialable. That would be cool if Jessee can come.
I can feel the fever setting in now!
