I've decided to get a race bike this year so I'm putting my Salsa 29er on the block. Here is Salsa's webpage on the bike:
http://salsacycles.com/bikes/big_mama/
I'm asking $1500 firm. Full suspension 29er's with comparable components are $3k and up. This bike was over $4k with the XT build when new. A great bike for Michaux and I won't be sorry to keep riding it if it doesn't sell. You are welcome to ride it on a club ride but let me know in advance so I can bring my other bike
Size: Medium (18")
Front Fork: Reba Race 100mm (can go to 120mm) w/ remote lockout

Grips: Ergon or Oury (your choice)
Seatpost: Thomson
Crank and Bottom Bracket: Shimano XT

The rear cassette, front sprockets and chain were new in late 2011, the rear derailleur was new early 2012. The seat and pedals in the picture are not included. I have a couple saddles to choose from. If you are interested email me: p r o p h e t 2 @ m e . c o m
These frames are well built. I've only seen one report of one breaking online and Freeze Thaw Cycles in State College (Where I bought it) sold many of them and told me they've never seen one break. Definitely a quality you want in a used bike in Michaux!

Hi Scott,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you're selling yhe "big mama' machine. Medium doesn't fit me.
If you can't sell your bike locally there is a bike swap in May up here in mechanicsburg on MAY 5th and 6th at World Cup ski and bike.

I asked the guys in shop for weekend and they gave me this date. It's not on the web page yet, but should be in a week or 2. They give you 85 percent cash (write a check) or 100 percent shop credit.
Last year it was a cloudy/ rainy day and bikes were going like candy their. I wonder how it would have been on a sunny day.
I saw bikes sell for $100 to $2200 easily. The ones that were with good parts (meaning lx or xt worth 3k or more) were selling for $1600 went easy. The customers ask the shop guys to estimate the bike cost and would tell them if it a bargain or not.
The 29er were interest alot to high end guys. The shop guys or racers get first pick on swap, you may get lucky and one of them may buy it (big mark from shop want one like yours last year but quit working their).
I sold all my parts on my trek fuel their on the saturday swap. Heck my fork didn't even get on display because one of the shop guys bought it. I was there when a downhill guy bought my brakes and parts. Clothes even sold at this swap and parts (sold my seat post from thompson).
If you sell a bike at mountain side sawp in june that all customers want to get their. I found the best swap was world cup in this area.
Just passing on the info if you can't sell local by that date. You have up to friday May 4th to drop off items for swap that weekend.
Em
Thanks for passing on that info E! If the bike is still around at the end of April I'll consider the swaps.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking 29'er. Hope it sells!
