Sunday Ride 9-2

I will be out of town and likely very hung-over on Sunday, so post your hearts out if anybody wants to lead a ride or just ride and offer for people to join.

On another note: there has been talk of doing a jersey-reorder. Anybody who is interested, post-up and we'll get a count to see if it's going to be substantial enough to move ahead.

  1. Does anyone want to take the ride to Swatara this Sunday? If we did the whole place in both directions, the back of the group should take 3 hours. Then we could go to Troegs afterwards. They have a dozen brews on tap including four scratch beers. This is all based on the assumption that we have a dry weekend since SAMBA discourages wet riding there. Right now, the forecast is good.

  2. I have not been to Swatera before, so that could work if weather is OK.

Alternatively, maybe start at the Mash Parking area and do some of the trails on that side of ridge road. I’ve been on scientology before, but not much more in that part of the forest.

If there is a jersey reorder, I'm in.

  4. If anyone is interested I am riding in the Water Shed on Sunday. I am leaving from Sand Flats and planning on a 20-25 mile ride. Going to ride all of Salamander, to Ridge from there do Vandal, then up the road to Stairway to Heaven and up Death March. From there we have some options Larry, I think you will enjoy this ride. Let me know if you are interested.

  8. Looks like Larry is designating Dave's ride as the club ride tomorrow. I haven't ridden at the Shed (and I assume that I'm not the only one); so Dave, some directions to get there would be great. Also, 20-25 might be a bit long for some (myself included), will there be a point to cut the ride shorter? Thanks.

  9. I forgot, Sand Flats is one of the Frederick locations on our map! It's not as far as I thought, so I'll try and be there.

  10. Hans- I wanted to get a 20+ mile loop in to get ready for the Teaberry race. There is not a lot of bail out options on this loop unless we have multiple people that know the trail. Anyone is welcome to join the ride, but it's going to be a long one.

  11. Dave - I need some longer rides for Iron Cross, too. I'll give it a go if you're willing to wait for me. I've gotten faster, so the waits are not as long as they were in the spring.

  12. Can't make the Shed ride tomorrow, but do want to ride down there again.

I'm up for another Jersey or two.

  13. Actually, I think there will be at least one good bail out point during the ride where you can cut out to the road and get back to the starting area pretty easily. Fingers crossed that it doesn't rein overnight

  16. Hans- are you able to meet Jason and I there at 8:30 tomorrow?

  17. Dave - Since you're willing to put up with me, I'll be there at 8:30.

  18. Dave - to be clear, is that meet there at 8:30 or be ready to ride at 8:30?

Count me in for a jersey, too.
