HAPPY NEW YEAR

winter cycling gloves

What mountain bike glove will keep your hands warm in temps 25deg or less.Any tips on keeping feet warm @ the same temps would be good.I did a ride last January and it was 9deg and 20+ wind gusts with 4in snow cover and fingers and toes froze. Thanks

IMBA is working to seize an important opportunity to increase bicycling in National Parks and we need your help!

Your Annual Fund donation could truly be the difference between business as usual, or a monumental accomplishment for mountain biking enthusiasts.
Donate now and fuel our efforts!

The U.S. National Park Service (NPS) has proposed a rule change which will make it easier for parks to open trails for mountain bikers. We are now in a 60-day commentary period and must be successful on all fronts to make the change official. Right now, donations from mountain bikers like you are critical in supporting our advocacy team's efforts, which is striving to:
  • Register 20,000 public comments supporting the rule change
  • Attend meetings across the country with key stakeholders
  • Continue reaching out to trail user groups to discuss the improvements the rule change will bring to National Parks

Please take a moment to support possible riding opportunities in National Parks!

IMBA's Annual Fund allows us to direct critical resources to programs and advocacy work when they are most needed. Our advocacy team needs these resources -- and your gift can help more than ever before.

Your support will truly go a long way for mountain biking in 2009. We hope you'll join us in getting off to an amazing start: trail opportunities in National Parks will give mountain bikers everywhere an exhilarating new momentum.

Most importantly, IMBA can bolster the presence of our volunteer network and our professional trailbuilding staff in National Parks, translating into much needed care for our nation's most prized natural environments.

Best Wishes and Happy New Year!
Mike Van Abel

International Mountain Bicycling Association

P.S. Your support does make a difference and is tax deductible. Please donate today to IMBA’s Annual Fund and help build the trails of tomorrow.

P.P.S. Contributors of $35 or more will receive our full-color 2009 calendar -- a great way to stay inspired all year.

Tuesday Night Self Esteem Ride

Ride with Jody Tuesday night at Mont Alto at 5:30 pm. It's sure make you feel good about yourself. No need to worry about being last up any climb or feel any pressure to go fast down any descent. Still need an ego boost? Slow down on the climb and drop waaaay back to ride with Jody. Then pull a wheelie and ride away! So far it's me, Jody and StumpHumper...

I'll have a spare set of lights that goes to the first person to request them. DirtyGirlMaggot???

Not cool enough to ride with our group? Well, there's the Tuesday morning ride at 8:30am with the lame group down at the Shed. Not sure who will be there. Maybe Buck, Tex, Chief (aka Mr. 20%), T, CrashedAgainAndAgainAndAgainAnd... Should be a fun ride anyway.

Sunday's ride on Saturday

Sunday's weather looks lousy. IF the forecast does not change, is anyone interested in doing the ride on Saturday?

By the way, if the Saturday ride happens, this does not cancel the Sunday ride. Only Chief has the authority to make a decision of such magnitude.

Christmas Eve Ride

Wednesday the 24th
8:30 - Caledonia

It will be a slower paced 2 to 3 hour ride.

Crash needs to bust his head again so maybe he can get a new helmet for Christmas or maybe a new head???? We will have to watch the weather also so we all might need new helmets. Be safe

Thanks YBR

Thank you Yellow Breeches Racing for your generous donation to the Mountain Bikers of Michaux and the Chambersburg Pump Track

Chambersburg now has a new addition to the inventory of the Recreation Department. The department has installed picnic tables, trash cans, and a new wrought-iron fence above the stone wall.

Thank you all for making this happen.

Windy, fur sur

Who are these guys??

COLD ride today

Here's to the tough crew that showed up for today's COLD and WINDY ride at Mont Alto!

Chuck, Dale, Dave W. and I braved the cold and windy conditions for about 2.5 hours. Who knows if there were gut piles today, they were all frozen and covered in snow so they looked just like rocks!

"Tough as nails" Sue and Mike "air-conditioned tights" Witter stopped by with a delicious plate full of cookies on their way to Caledonia to crush the fire roads in the chilly weather. Way to go Sue! Glad to see you back on your bike.

Did anyone else brave the weather today to get in a ride? Let's hear about it.
