Resized bacon another attempt

Light Advice

Now that we've had our dose of pork..........

I'm in the market for a light. I'm going to buy 1 and it needs to be under $200. What would you buy if you were only going to get one light? A bar light? A head light?

Any advice appreciated.

Wednesday Ride

A few of us plan to ride Wednesday (sorry short notice) @5p meeting at the gas line on Rattlesnake run rd. Here is the location -

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=39.769558,-77.479105&daddr=&geocode=&hl=en&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=0&sz=15&sll=39.768238,-77.481422&sspn=0.023717,0.05476&ie=UTF8&ll=39.76715,-77.483139&spn=0.023718,0.05476&z=15

If you are coming from the south end of Rattlesnake Run Rd the open gas line area will be on your right. The whole road is only about 4 miles long. I would say the gas line is about in the middle at the 2 mile mark (the same distance from either end of the road). Brad, Brian, and I plan to be there by 4:30p so if you are not sure of the location you will find us on the road.

Tuesday Back O' The Pack

After a couple weeks of business travel that has played havoc with my riding I'm ready to get back in the saddle Tuesday. Who's in?

New Iron Cross ride time and place

We're meeting at 1pm at the Long Pine parking lot. We'll join Don Pagano to do his ride. Figure on 3+ hours of riding. The pace will be friendly but we won't stop much.

Non-Non-Iron Cross Ride Sunday??

Considering weather and my hatred of all things Iron-Cross (crotch/GI related injuries during my third attempt), I am considering a decent Road Ride from the Scotland area in the afternoon - 3 or 3:30? Including but not limited to Shippensburg to Big Flat and down through Caledonia. Planning on 40 to 50 miles? Anyone interested? Pace around 17 to 18 average. Post here if interested and we can nail down meeting place.

Non Iron Cross Sunday Ride

Is anybody up for an alternate ride? I would like to meet at the Bendersville Parking Lot and do the old Maximus loop. This will include Fender, 3 mile trail and Grave Ridge. 9:00 departure. Post back if you are coming. If you need directions to the parking lot, here is a link: http://gettysburgbmx.com/michaux/wp-content/directions/directmaximus.pdf

new log section!!! at the pump track

Sunday Iron Cross ride

Cathy, Trish and I are meeting at Caledonia at 9am and doing about 4 hours of the Iron Cross loop. There are plenty of places to cut out early for you Nancy types. We won't be hammering but we'll ride at a steady pace with no stopping unless necessary. You don't have to have a cross bike. Trish and I will be on our mtn bikes. Bring enough to eat and drink!

Sunday Ride

Anyone doing a Sunday ride? Depending where the ride starts I might be able to make it.

Brad - I was going to post the pictures of you coming down that hellacious drop on Tuesday, but they did not come out well. I need to bring a real camera next time instead of a phone.

New frame on the way!

Jes at Gettysburg Bicycle already has my new frame on the way. It's a 2009 Specialized Tricross Pro. Sweet!

Another broken frame

I went to the final Summit Health ride of the season but didn't get very far. The right chain stay on my Specialized S-Works cross bike broke! That's 2 frames in 2 months.

ANOTHER RIDE OPTION

Dona and I cannot make it to Big Flat in time, so we are meeting at Mt Alto at 5 PM on Wednesday. Join us if you want.

HEY IT WAS JUST A JOKE!

I sent it to Levi and he got it. HAHAHA!

Ride Tuesday? And Wednesday

Anyone riding Tuesday night?

Bobby (he who loves the yellow jackets) and I plan to ride Wednesday- meeting at Big Flat 4:30p-4:40p. The more the merrier!

Speed Freaks Stage Race

Looks like the SnotCycle/Bakers Dozen folks are doing another one next month.
Details here on BikeReg.

Rumours are that MBMers are welcome there.

Teaberry pics

Martin gets the hole shot in the 40. I think he held on for 3rd or 4th. He was in first place going in to Mackey, and 5th place coming out of Mackey. He said it's a great trail for a Sunday ride but no fun to race on.

big showing

better to ride home in Travis' red rig, than in Fayetteville's yellow one

Teaberry

MBM racer Josh "Bucky" Spencer spanks all comers in today's 20 miler actually (23.2). Thats the good news. The "bad" news for Josh is the spontaneous demand from the crowd during the awards presentation that he advance to the 40+ mile crowd! Congratulations to all of the MBM first timers including a strong finish by Brad in the 20, Scott in the 10 and a valiant attempt derailed by tire issues for Brian. Matt won the 10 for the old guys. Many other strong finishes by the seasoned regulars, to many to list. And koodos to Chuck for reversing the finish order from the last race, (yea he got me, 3 minutes). Next year chuck, I concede iron cross in advance.

Thanks to all of my fellow racers for making this event so much fun, thanks to the volunteers and G-burg for putting on a good event, best T-shirt to date.

Blue Knob ride Sept. 27

All,

Since some of you were not able to make it to Blue Knob for LHORBA annual big ride there, I am putting together a ride on Sunday September 27, 2009. Ride time will be 10:30AM. Hopefully this will give our friends from NMBA, MBM, PORC or other clubs time to get there.

I plan on leading a ride from Pavia Run Pavilion (Mowery Hollow parking lot) that will climb through the State Park side, cross over to do the 12 mile all singletrack loop on the Resort side and then finish with a 5 or 6 mile mostly downhill blast to the cars. I can also line up a separate ride with less climbing and at a mellow pace. Please let me know if you want that ride, too and I will find a ride leader.

Please feel free to spread the word about the ride.

Mike Mucker

Teaberry

Man, this place is dead. Is this thing on?

Who's showing up and putting up on Sunday? Saw some names on the Bike Reg site.

We'll be out and about heckling and throwing beer cans at people we know. If you get hit, it means we like you.

I'll bring that awesome Manitou fork along that I have for sale, too, in case someone is drooling over it.

Swapped for a longer fork on my wife's bike.

This is the 2009 that does not need the "click fix" because it already has it.
The steerer tube is cut to 6 9/16".
King Crown Race is installed.
Price is $400.
Oh yeah--one or two small marks in the paint from a bike rack.

Email if interested. Or leave a comment.

Thanks!

Tuesday Back O' The Pack

The Tuesday ride will be the second half of the Teaberry Sport loop this week. I'll be out of town but I assume a 5:00pm start from the Teaberry lot as usual. Steve and Rob taking point on this ride. Sorry I'll miss it guys!

Tape and zip ties!

Rick didn't let a broken shoe stop him (thanks to Brad having tape and Scott having zip ties). Very stylish shoe Rick. Most dangerous part of the ride – the end - letting another rider (not mentioning any names) cut the zip ties off with a dull knife.

BLUE LIGHT SPECIAL $12

No not my bike.

We have found that many of our regular MBM'ers haven't renewed for 2009 - even folks who post on the blog and some who are hitting the club rides. In an effort to bring these "rogues" back into the fold we are running a special deal. Get the remainder of 2009 and all of 2010 for $12 individual or $20 family.
Click the BikeReg link or pay Larry or Sue next time you see them.
We greatly appreciate it - thanks.

Sunday Sept 6th Ride

Well... looks like Teaberry parking lot is the place. 9:00 AM. This will not be the traditional pre-race ride, because Jes will know the route. Those of you who have ridden club pre-race rides in the past will understand.

Gettysburg Bicycle Teaberry Pre-ride

Jes from Gettysburg Bicycle is organizing a pre-ride of the beginner and intermediate Teaberry loops this Sunday, 9/6/09 at 9:00am. The ride will follow the exact race loop for this year's race. Do just the beginner loop or both beginner and intermediate.
