Cracked up at Long Pine

Thanks Brett for leading out a large group in Long Pine today. I enjoyed the first 5 miles of riding much more than the 5 mile nature walk back to the parking lot. While my HiFi 29er was in the shop waiting for a replacement seat stay the chain stay on my back up 26 inch HiFi broke and disabled the bike. That makes 3 frame breaks in one year on two HiFi's. The best performance upgrade for this bike may be good walking shoes. Hope all had a great ride. Looks like I will be spectating and not racing next weekend.

NICE ONE! Is that 3 fishers? Or just two fishers and something else?? Let me know if you want to borrow a bike.

Buck, all Fishers! 26 inch HiFi broke left and right chain stay and right seat stay on 29er. Not to proud to join the mooch club if you have an extra something to ride.

thanks

I have a SS that you can race. You just have to get Shorts to give it up.

GRRRRR......Maybe it is time you try the SS Rob. And maybe you are lucky you missed the rest of the ride so you don't know what is in store for the race on the SS.

Love,
Mrs. Mooch

Did you all do the full pull of the expert loop? Enjoy those 3 big climbs in the second half??

shorts said...

Umm...we heard that second climb was all your idea Larry....nice addition to the route. Sorry I missed out on that the day we rode the course.

Mooch said...

I thought it was a fun course on the SS. All except for that second climb - which I wouldn't have been able to ride with gears anyway. That was ridiculous!

nothing wrong with a nice walk in the the woods with your girl friend or boy friend.

I guess Rob will be getting a divorce from his main squeezes

Chief said...

Hey Rob
wouldn't the campers give you a ride out?

rob said...

Chief, The campers pointed the way but I think they were told not to give rides to strangers.

rob said...

Bucsexy, Sounds like the perfect course to try single speed. Thanks....Can you put a 52tooth chainring on the back for me? Or have shorts pedal and I will steer. Tandem SS?

Sorry to hear about your mechanical, Rob. One of the reasons I shied away from the HiFi 29er when buying a bike a couple months ago was those carbon fiber parts. I'll stick with Aluminium, as the brits say!

rob said...

It was the Aluminum weld that broke today.

Time for ti or steel?

Time to tell Fisher to make better bikes?

brett said...

BTW--sorry that happened to you, Rob. You missed a nice route.

bucsexy said...

Translation for Brett's post:
BTW--you suck, Rob. You should have suffered up those climbs with the rest of us.

As said by the skirt that had to go home early. My legs are tired, I road hard yesterday etc. etc. etc.

bucsexy said...

My legs were starting to wear down and I had no more food. I didn't want to be one of those guys riding at the back and making everyone wait. I won't mention any names, CHIEF! ;-)

After you skirts bailed we had so much fun talking smack about you we forget how much our legs hurt. Thanks!

You should've had some canned energy drink.

Thanks to all who offered me a bike for the weekend. My good friends at Hub City Sports assure me I will be back in the saddle this weekend. Trek/Fisher is shipping a new 2009 frame to replace the 29er and a new carbon swingarm for the 26 inch HiFi. They claim they made necessary modifations to avoid future frame failure. Hope it works.

I was really tempted to keep going but I think I made the right choice. Has anyone seen my man card???

Mooch said...

I'm pretty sure Sue has it.

Buck said...

Hey Rob if they give you the old 29 frame back I would love to have some wall art!!!

Buck said...

Hey Rob you gonna sell it or keep it?? The new 29er frame?? Did they hook you up with a 17.5??

rob said...

Buck, The new frame shipped is a large. Considering selling the new large frame so I can buy something in medium.

Chief said...

They call it clean up when you can't keep up.( youngster ) :-)

brett said...

1. get warranty frame
2. ebay it
3. buy something better

viola.

Chief said...

Poor Gary
what else has such a good warranty. Buy it,break it, get a new bike. Sweeeet. You just have to have a good back up. oops. It has to be something other than a fisher. I got the ol red line.

Mark said...

Great ride thanks for showing me aroound. Bummer about the frame.

rob said...

New hot red 29er frame arrived. Bike already to go. New chain stay for 26er also installed. GF bikes may break but they do have great customer service.

rob said...

Thanks Chuck and Zack at Hub City for getting two bikes together and ready to go for me the same day parts and frame arrived.

camps said...

Hub City folks know how to come through when you need it.

I've heard many people say that before about GF, that it's OK to break a frame because ".....you get a new frame in 2-3 weeks....".

Your 1-week is the fastest I've heard of.
