trail running at Codorus

If anyone is in the Hanover area we have been trail running on sundays around 10am from Bankert road at Codorus. The run is usually about 1.5 hrs. Today there was roughly 7in of snow, but runnable. I hope everyone enjoyed the hike today. Dennis

Snotcycle 2011

I found this on facebook. It pretty much sums up what most people remember about Snotcycle 2011. The SSers would like to thank all the little people who raced before us to pack down the snow so we could ride more and walk/run less.

hike

I'm doing a hike at Caledonia this Sunday. Hike time 9am. Soooooo bring your little snow shoes or your little boots. The snow is deep and the roads are icey. If you do ride the fire roads remember that alot of the roads are open to snowmobiles.

Snotcycle Caravan

Who wants to caravan/carpool down to the Snotcycle? I see a few MBMers on the starting list: me, Mooch, Howard, Mike, Sandie, Blake, Steph, Jody, Kegley and The Don Pagano. Everyone's racing singlespeed? Can't anyone afford a geard bike anymore?

It's a 1.5 hour drive from Chambersburg and SSers must be signed in by 11AM. Does anyone want to meet at McDonald's off the I81 Scotland exit at 8:30?

2011 bike stuff

I got up Sunday morning and decided to ride even though the temp was just under 20 at my house. By the time I got to the parking lot it was just closer to 12! That may explain the low turnout.
The weather is keeping us inside. So I decided to post some bikey stuff....
I found these while tooling through the latest rag. They might work.

AME heated bike grips.
All total you'll fork out $351 for these hotties!

I'm also watching X Fusion Shox wondering if they'll ever give Fox a run. They offer a nice line of rear shocks but limit their fork selection to 26inch and the elusive 650B. They also have an adjustable seat post in their line up. They've been around for a while. Maybe they'll catch on to big wheels.

Maybe you heard that Titus went under at the end of last year. The company was saved by On One Bikes and is presently in the process of recovery.
The story there is that Chris Cocalis started Titus in 1990 and then sold it in 2001. He then went on to start Pivot which is currently in success mode. Take a look at the Mach 429. It has my vote for a 4inch CVA style bike.

And speaking of adjustable seat posts. It seems they are becoming stock items on several new bikes. Averaging a one pound weight penalty I still think they are worth it. I like the Reverb by Rock Shox. A little pricey at $275 it falls well within the bling category. My bike doesn't have a grill so I guess an adjustable seatpost is the next best thing.
This thing has hydraulic actuation. Nice! Now you gotta bleed your brakes and your post!!

Good Luck to everyone racing at SnotCycle Saturday. Hope you all have a blast.

BTW I heard replacement parts for BOA's are free. So, I'm still liking mine for now.

See you at a ride.

I know this isn't nearly as cool as BOA lacing systems, but here's three timber sales recently awarded in Michaux, one south of 30 and two north of the DMZ.

Links to the Prospectus for each:

Shriner's Knob Salvage--between Staley and Wirt Roads

Lake Warren Sale--North side of Ridge Road between Michaux Road and 233
