It was a great day! MBM hosted two checkpoints and several members raced. Everyone had a great time.

Group Rides

There will be no official MBM Sunday Group rides for the next 2 weekends.
This Sunday, the 22nd, the race folks from Gettysburg are doing a race course preride from the Bendersville Lot at 10am.

The next Sunday is Maximus! Come and support your fellow MBMers. A good many have already preregistered - should be a good turnout for the club.

MBM will be running a checkpoint and could use all the help we can get. Contact your favorite officer or email the club or post here to offer your time. The long-range forecast looks promising for a lovely day in the woods.

Regular group rides will resume in May -- offer some suggestions -- where have we not been in awhile?????

Eulogy for Grave Ridge

I had a very emotional experience yesterday riding along what used to be one of my favorite trails in Michaux. I am sure many of you agree that Grave Ridge had features and technical sections that were challenging and entertaining. It's gone -- literally, irretrievably, totally gone. I was hoping to see that some consideration would have been given to the trail. There was obviously none. 99% of the ridge is flattened. 99% of the rocks and features are gone. I realize that forestry is the reason for our amazing resource, but shouldn't established, recognized trails have some significance in the process? I will post photos once I figure out how.

Sunday Ride

I missed the pre-ride for the Maixmus 20 miler this past weekend and would like to do the course this week. I know Gettysburg Bike is doing one, but I would like to start at 9 instead of 10. Anyone interested in joining me that knows the course?

Friday Ride

I will be riding out of the Caledonia lot @ 9am Friday morning.
This will be a fast paced ride, somewhere around 20-25 miles.
If you are interested and this sounds like your kind of ride , leave a comment or just show up!

Sunday Ride

This Sunday we will meet at the Bendersville parking lot and try to ride the 20 mile race loop. This will be a difficult loop. RIDE TIME 9AM. WE will leave the parking lot at 9

Intermediate Ride

This Saturday I am hosting an intermediate trail ride. This ride is open to everyone. The pace will be easy but you should expect to climb and descend on trails covered with leaves, roots and small rocks. I would encourage anyone interested in joining the club or learning a sweet place to improve your mountain bike skills to come out and ride.

You need a trail bike with brakes and you must wear a helmet. I also suggest carrying a spare tube, plenty of water and something to eat.

The ride will consist of three loops. Each loop will get progressively more difficult. Each loop will pass by the parking lot so riders will have the option to drop out or keep going.

For more info see the Ride Flyer. An interactive trail map is in the sidebar at the right. The last loop will include trails not on that map. Ride time is 10:30am.

Maximus Race checkpoint

The Maximus race is Sunday, April 29th. We need just a few people to help out with the MBM checkpoint. So far we have two volunteers and we could use three more. We usually set up at the chapel on 233 which is about the halfway point for the 40.

Beer Review

I'm sitting here in my campsite after two laps of the Grippis and Red Legs trails here at Raystown when I unsuspectingly pop the top on a Blue Point Brewing Company "Hoptical Illusion".

Phrases like "nectar of the gods" and "liquid gold" come to mind.

If you like IPA's I'd recommend you try this stuff. Not over the top hoppy......juuuuust right.

And...... It has a pyramid on the label. What else could you want?

Enduro Course Preride Saturday

Come on out and join us for a pre ride of the proposed Enduro course this Saturday--you know, the race Harlan talked to us about the meeting!

This Saturday, 9:00 in the aye-em. We are meeting at the top of Snowy Mtn Road at the four way intersection with the gated firetower road. Plan on a solid 3.5 hours of riding but if you can't stay for the whole enchilada, we will be returning to the cars after a couple of the stages so you'll have an out if need be.

The total distance may be in the 20-ish mile range but remember this is trail downhill and typically fireroad climbs.

Hope to see some people there for some fun downhills!
