Sunday Ride 4-28
There are 2 organized rides to choose from this Sunday.
1: The Gettysburg Cycle Maximus Preride from the Bendersville Lot. If you plan to race or want to check out the course, join them. And bring a donation for Brian Fults' fight!
2: I will lead a ride from Big Flat at 9. The obvious goal is to put tires on the new section of trail that we cut last week.
Whichever ride you choose, enjoy!

4/20 Ride
I'm planning to ride tomorrow at 11-12ish from the mud banks or furnace area. Anyone who's interested in joining me post up.
Trail Work Day Sunday, April 21, 9:00 am! Be There!
Hi again!
We are planning a trail work day to open the last section of the Wildcat Reroute near Big Flat. This new trail will become an extension of Abigail, making Abby run from the power line near Big Flat the whole way to the Long Pine Reservoir. We hope that with enough people, we can cut in the new section completely with one work session. But for that, we need people!
So, we are planning the trail work day in lieu of the Sunday club ride. Meet on Birch Run Road at the power line crossing at 9:00. This meeting point may change based on how many people are planning to show, so keep an eye peeled to the blog!
We are hoping to be finished with the work and hiking back out around 1:00 or 2:00, but people can stay as long or as short as they want or can. Every little bit helps!
After the work session, the club will be providing burgers and dogs, chips, etc., for grub so stick around and enjoy the food!
If you can make it, please bring the following if possible:
Gloves
Water
Snacks
Hand saw
Hand pruners
Rake (we will definitely need rakes!--metal leaf rakes work well, or garden rakes)
There will also be tools provided.
We will need at least one trimmer with a circular blade, too!
Again, we really hope to see you out there this Sunday to help complete this really important connector and reopen the ridge trail from Big Flat to Long Pine!
Please leave a comment if you are planning on attending the work day so we can plan better! If you also received an email, you can respond to that instead, please.
Hope to see you this Sunday!

I just wanted to let everyone know that it's not safe to park in the Big Flat parking area in Michaux. I was there this past Thursday afternoon as I was passing through going to a race in North Carolina. A buddy and myself parked right near the kiosk and went for a short ride and planned on continuing on to NC after the ride. Needless to say we couldn't. We got back to the car and the rear window had been busted out and some top notch D-Bags stole all of our gear. All of our camping gear, cycling gear, tools, regular clothes, laptops, work bags, and anything that was in the back was taken. It was so disheartening knowing that we had nothing to use if we continued on our trip. We turned around and started to drive home knowing there was no point.
Luckily a friend nearby lent us everything we needed, including cycling clothes to race in so we could continue on. That made us feel better that there are some good people out there. Just be careful that there are some tools out there that have no respect for anything. This truly hit me hard as everything I owned for cycling was lost and it took me 7 years to gain all that stuff. It'll take me almost as long to build up what I had. For now I'm beggin friends for extra clothes and supplies to get me by.
Most of what they stole will probably end up in a dumpster somewhere. So if you are in the area please keep a lookout for the red/white/blue kit of Team Bulldog. It's easy to spot and only 35 people in North Jersey are on the team so it should be obvious if this clothing pops up. Who knows maybe these idiots will hopefully get arrested...

Michaux Trailwork, Sunday, 4-21!
Hey, Everyone, consider this a Save The Date post for Sunday, April 21st, to cut in the last section of the Wildcat reroute! We are planning the workday for Sunday due to Spring Gobbler season opening on 4-20.
Mike and Jessee laid out a nice swoopy line along the DCNR designated corridor and we have walked it with Forestry and received their approval to cut it in. This will re-open the new ridgetop line from the power line at Big Flat to Abigail!
So, in lieu of the normal Sunday MBM ride, come on out and help get this last piece opened up so we can start riding it in! With enough people, it should only take this day to open the trail.
Meet time will be 9:00 and depending on turn-out, we will try to work until it's done, perhaps 3-4 hours?
We are also planning to have food and refreshments afterwards for everyone who shows up--more details to come on that, too.
Hope to see a bunch of friendly faces out there to help finish this!
Keep watching the blog for more details as we get closer to the date and thanks in advance!

Who has broken a carbon superfly?
My son is considering buying a carbon superfly, 2011. I have advised against it, given all the Fisher carnage that we have seen. Has anyone broken a carbon superfly?

"Michaux State Forest Relocated for Children"
The 84,000 acres Michaux State Forest currently occupies will be rezoned and the forest moved to a more manageable 84 acre land fill just west of it's current location.
The recent sequester forced state politicians to come up with even more ambitious plans to funnel money out of the system in what little time they have left. One lawmaker was quoted as saying "You don't need 84,000 acres to throw empty beer cans from a moving pick up truck!" Another noted that "Pennsylvania currently has an excess of trees and that the tree population must be brought under control!"
The 84,000 rezoned acres will be immediately sold to developer friends of state politicians at an incredible loss to the state. One of those politicians who wishes to remain anonymous states that "this move will benefit children, schools and the elderly!" Those benefits obviously makes it a good move for the state.
Once in the hands of developers the property will be parceled and sold at a substantial profit. The developers expect logging, more landfills, private homes and possibly a gold mine. (At least one of the politicians was overheard saying something about a gold mine.....)
The landfill revitalization effort will include renaming the landfill Michaux State Forest and installing an inexpensive sign to keep costs down. User groups will have unlimited access to the new parcel which has no trees, very little grass growing and a small pond with rare three eyed fish.
