Paul and Steve's PreRace Adventure
We did the first half of the race just fine. 10 miles. Less mud than last year, but that can change. At the point where the new race course leaves the old (intersection of Fender and Mountain Ridge Road, we could not find the trails back to 233. We did find several ATV trails that went in the proper direction and might be on the race. We did not cross 233. Instead, we met up with another Paul. He is an MBM member and has a cabin near the Furnace. He took us on a couple of his local trails. So, we don't know what the race will hold on the other side of 233, but had a great ride on some new (to us) trails. We will try again. Even if we don't find it, the riding is fine! 24 miles.

Sounds like a great ride... AND the pre-race ride tradition lives on!
Wow! What a surprise. Didn't you guys have a map?
24 miles...Sweet
I'm glad you mapped those new trails.
Hey Cosmo what happened to you today? I thought you were riding Mont Alto, you missed some really good crashes.
the ride today made me want suspension, fast trails with big rocks everywhere, my hands still hurt.
mmmmm. slept in. it was nice. i'm sure there will be more crashes.
trevis and i are thinking about doing the race course on thurs during the day. I would think about a 9am start. i will know more wed.
Across 233 is a great trail. I like riding it down not up like the race does. I would have loved to joint you guys. Was there a ride post I missed??
I wish you would find your identity.
yes there was, scroll down on the main page, read, you can't miss it
Some people have a hard time finding there selves.
At least I can find the trail.
Sorry I missed you guys on Sunday. I was right behind you...at least for the first part of the ride. The first 4 miles of rocky hell wore me down and convinced me that I too need a FS bike.
Nah, you just need big wheels.
She has a big set of wheels! So does her bike...
...and that's how I roll...like clown bike
Chuck- I saw the place you broke your collar bone....I respectfully pulled a 'hike a bike' on that section.
I would have piled up more rocks and goaded him into riding it again...
bigger wheels + less suspension = happiness
Strange how that works.
MM - So you rode Grave Ridge? Uncle Don said I was 7' in the air and flew 15-20' the first time. The second time was when I separated my shoulder. I have never broken a bone!
