Tuesday Back O' The Pack

We'll ride from Mont Alto Tuesday at 4:30pm. The plan is to ride on the opposite side of the road from the parking lot up past the Mont Alto Campus. I'm going to wear my blaze orange to fend off the hunters. I know I'll regret asking this but are we crazy? (NOTE Changed Start Time)

Yes you are crazy. You can get a real nice compound bow for what that bike cost. And you never kill anything except yourself on a bike.
My trail cam only gets pictures of mountain bikers and rock throwers. On my drive back home I'm swerving to avoid deer every half mile. So, unless they allow hunting from the hood of a car I'm convinced it's going to be a slow bow season!

Let the hunters have the woods. We ride all year long. They only have a limited hunting season. Ride after dark with your lights. AND YES... you are crazy.

Its archery season and blaze orange isn't even requied for hunters. I do agree with the previous posting because I DO ride all year long in the woods. There is plenty of forest for everyone to enjoy and thats why I hunt at locations away from trails. If anything, you are moving the deer around which is a big bonus in such a large area. I do however avoid the woods the first week of rifle because people are anxious to shoot! I too will be hunting soon and if I see a fellow biker I will be sure to say hello. Happy riding and hunting.

Ok, guess I asked for that!

i guess we have a lot of different people watching our blog now. Some good info and some not. But if you do ride it is Bow season and they will be in tree-stands and such. Myself I try to stay out but it is hard to do. I do ride but try not to interfere with anyone's hunt. Which is hard to do. Orange a must!

I don't ride during deer rifle season or on the first day of any season and always wear bright colors.

Many hunters realize that some areas have more recreactional traffic than others and adjust. Sadly, some don't. I ran into a dude up in a tree stand five feet from a hiking/biking trail.

I doubt he got a deer. The Michaux State Forest as a whole sees alot of use. If I were a hunter in Franklin County I would head West - and many do.

I missed you guys tonight? I got up to Mount Alto about 4:45. I rode up the power line trail, crossed the rode

rode up the fire road to where it comes out if you would have crossed the road at the parking lot and rode up to the top. I waited around for awhile hoping you all would show up, but nothing. So, I rode back down the power line trail, climbed back up the fire road to the top of buckets, then came down buckets. I left the parking lot at 6:25 and still didn't see anyone?? Maybe next week!!

Sorry we missed you. We did ride up the other side of the road to lost creek, and crossed 233 up top. Did lee's rock, ??, ??, turtle, and park trail. Got back 6:30ish. If you think you're riding, just post that and we'll wait...or email bluetj at live dot com.

Sorry we missed. It must have been close. I was running late, Zach showed up late so I'm sure we must have been heading out right around 4:40 instead of 4:30. Sorry about that!

BTW, only a couple vehicles and no hunters seen on last night's ride. We did see some deer though!

Hunters: All the deer were on the ball field across from the main campus parking lot.

Brad - the trails between lee's rock and turtle were upper and lower connector.
