Winter is not so bad

Couldn't make it to Whitetail, so did some XC skiing on the C&O Towpath, along the Potomac. The commute is easier, this is 5 minutes from my house. Skiing in this unpacked snow is as good a workout as a mountain bike ride, even without the climbing.

Nice Steve,
I thought you didn't "uphill ski"?
I'll be skiing Michaux again today

Actually, this was flat, except for the little hills at the locks. I got to Whitetail today. They had bumps on everything! Bold Decision felt like a real ski run.

Bold was pretty fun and interesting on Sat. too.

The whole ski resort actually felt like a real ski resort. Especially the high speed quads. Almost thought I was back home skiing in CO. Crossing fingers for snow to do it all again tomorrow. Kids liked skiing too!

I would say there will be snaux in Michaux at least through February now...

Whitetail is presently listing a base of up to 55"! By contrast,in Utah, the Canyons (the largest resort in Utah) is listing 55". In Colorado, Snowmass and Steamboat are in the upper 30s. Jackson Hole, where MBMer Charley Toth is presently skiing, is 70". Shorts, Whitetail might be better than CO. That state must be getting pretty scraped. We have all the snow here. Now, we just need a mountain.

Maybe Dale should schedule some XC or downhill skiing for Sunday.

I wanted to go skiing today, but the highway closed down. I am totally there tomorrow. Hey hey what do ya say? No school again tomorrow? Hip hip hooray!

I think you may have something crash. Where should we ski Sunday? I don't think we can get plane tickets for some place warm to ride so lets ski.
