Maximus Race

It was a great day! MBM hosted two checkpoints and several members raced. Everyone had a great time.

If you have any pictures you want to share post a comment with the link and I'll add the link to this post.

Are you asking how awesome I did?
Do you want to hear the gory details of how much I suffered??

The day was too perfect for suffering. Also, this was the best course in years. Although the former Grave Ridge was eliminated (the route went down the really steep double track to the left of the 1st climb up to Grave), it went all the way to 3 Mile trail. 3 Mile trail was a great addition to the course. The course was a really good combination of the riding features offered by Michaux.

Well, I did way better than I expected. But it hurt way more than expected, and I was expecting suffering.
Larry told me that being local and knowing the trails so well was a mental disadvantage, and he was right. The whole first 20 I was just thinking about all the climbs and trails that were yet to come. Was not encouraging. I ended up trying to keep my mind on what was in front of me and just forget the rest.
It felt awesome to spin up logsled and finish. Wow. Very glad I did it and I look forward to more.

Logsled is always my happy place in this race. I think Ho is doing the 40 again tonight if you're really looking forward to more.

that's not suffering! no cramps? no GI issues, no blood, no gore? BORING!

did anyone have to at least ride the whole course with no beer? that would constitute suffering.

I was so tired at the finish that I drank NO BEER!

That is suffering. No blood, no gore, NO BEER!!

DRW did look like he'd left a bit of his soul out on the course. Those 40's must be crazy hard. Don't know how you guys do it!
