The Cat's Meow of a Reroute is Open
Thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday and helped finish opening the Wildcat reroute! The trail is open for business after two work days with strong showings. Howard, Larry and I were all very happy with the turnouts--around 20 the first day and around 12 the second. Awesome stuff! The new trail is about 2 miles of more ridgetop riding. I'd post pictures, but I gave my camera to Hans to use and the only picture I found was one of me standing in the bushes. I guess we should get better with these new-fangled image taking apparatii, like those Merry Land boys apparently are. So, the trail is open and rideable, but it's not done yet! There will be some more work days posted up for tweaking a couple rock sections and other stuff. Larry is going to contact Forestry about blazing it, too. We thought that the club could offer the labor to blaze and sign if Forestry supplies the materials. Again, thanks, everyone for coming out!

it's riding pretty well already.
thanks everyone for getting it done so quickly
Where does it start?
Exit the rear Big Flat parking lot around the yellow gate. Follow double track (Ram Hill Trail) approx. 1/2 mile and make first right onto another double track which shortly brings you out on a powerline. Rather than shoot straight across the powerline onto the original "Wildcat Trail" as you would have in past "Dark Hollow" races, make a right and follow powerline for approx. 1/8 mile and look for new singletrack on left before the powerline begins to decend to Birch Run Rd. This is it! Enjoy!
Thanks!!!
Come on out to the next posted work day, too!
I would love to come out but I work on Sat's......Do you have any plans for a Sunday work day?
We can definitely consider one if it'll help people show up who want to lend a hand but can't make Saturdays.
Come ride any Tuesday evening and we'll show you where lots of trails are. Sometimes we'll even show you where lots of trails aren't depending on who's leading the ride!
This Tuesday ride includes the new trail.
In my defense; I spent most of the time working alone, so most of the pictures would have been of me holding my tool - cordless saw that is. Besides, I've seen enough on this blog to know that I shouldn't use someone else's tool!
