I've volunteered at this race several times in the past and raced it a few times. I know some MBMers do it too. I got this message from the promoter looking for volunteers, so thought I'd post it here in case anyone likes to help out in exchange for free race entries. It's the same weekend as the club meeting, though there is work being done on Saturday, and I've helped on Fridays before too, so I know there's plenty to do there. It's a big race getting even bigger. It's good for our sport whether we like it or not. I have the spreadsheet he references and can send it to you if you want to see what jobs are available.

Dear Previous Helper,
Thanks for helping with our Greenbrier MTB race and Junior Olympic race in years past. We will be doing it again this year on Sunday Apr 25, and the race will also now be the first race in a new 4-race Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship, so lots of racers will be coming! We could really use your help. Plus, any friends, family, or acquaintances that you can invite to help will be greatly appreciated as well!
I've attached the current volunteer position list so you can see the specifics.
Benefit: For each 3 hours of work done, the volunteers will earn a free race at any PVC event, either for themselves or for someone they designate. You'll also be doing a great service for the local bike racing community and enabling a big contribution to Trips for Kids charity.
Key Needs: There are many different types of jobs on Apr 25, including:
- Course Marshalling (especially needed)
- Venue Set-Up
- Racer Registration
- Computer Data Entry
- Helping with Kids Race at 12:45 for a half hour
- Posting Score Tags
- Trail Maint on Apr 11 and Start/Finish Set-up on Apr 24
If you can help, please contact me with desired time slot, and need areas where you can help, at jcarlsonida at yahoo dot com
Thanks,
Jim Carlson
