Hey,sorry this doesn`t have anything to do with the Sunday ride but I was out bushwack-hiking the other day and happened to stumble upon what appears to be a relatively new trail. It starts near Long Pine Reservoir off the big powerline on the very top of Wigwam Hill and heads south out across the ridge. After walking some of this trail,it didn`t take me long to return with my bike and ride it.Wow!,what a kick ass technical trail.I was wondering if any of you guys know of this trail. If not, you`ve gotta check it out, what a blast!

The only one I can think of is Yellow Ridge. It starts there and goes all the way down to the pump house at Locus Gap??

No,it`s not Yellow Ridge,it`s actually on the next ridge to the west called Wigwam Hill which is really more of a "ridge" than Yellow ridge. It`s on the other side of Locust Gap Trail. It starts right at the top of the ultra steep, tree covered hill on the powerline.Much tighter and much more technical than Yellow Ridge. It looks to me like it was just recently made.

So, how do you get to this? The Wigwam climb like in Iron Cross? From Stillhouse Hollow Road?

Yes,you can get to it that way but if you want to avoid that killer, unridable(for me anyway)climb you can also get there by taking Wigwam Trail from Milesburn Rd. as marked on the PATC map, then head east on the powerline to the top of the Iron Cross climb which is Wigwam Hill. The trail starts near the sandy patch on the powerline at the crest of Wigwam Hill and heads south.

I;ll be checking that out. You say it goes south? Did you ride it to the end? It has to cross the AT if it follows the ridge I'm thinking of or drop down towards locus gap. I will find out!!

The MBM pub is at the end of that trail.

Yes, I've ridden it to the end and it does bring you out on Locust Gap trail. No, it doesn't cross the AT.

This was a fun ride. Spooge seemed like hasn't been used much which is surprising because it is now one of my favorites. Can't wait to head back there when I'm not carrying pruners to do it again!

Do you ride and prune at the same time? Sounds dangerous, ESP on those blades about mid-trail. I usually need both hands about then. I would try bolting a large sharp sickle to my stem, two free hand that way unless you go down and have two loose hands. Woops!

Did you manage to cut the blow downs out on the final 2/3?

Glad you could get out.

Just show up at the bottom of Quarry Gap Rd for the 5PM ride tomorrow and one of us will fill you in. I'll be sure to see you there with all your free time.
