Sunday will be race day
Good luck to all that are racing
I rode down Yellow ridge today and someone put in some much needed water bars on the down hill at the end. But be aware the water bars are really big and if you hit the first one at speed you'll be in the air for a long time. So start to slow before the down hill and check things out. If you like to catch BIG air go for it.

You need a singlespeed
POSTING FOR BEN SMITH
Very nice singlespeed 29r with a very nice component spec:
$800 local special - if you pick it up, otherwise price is as stated below.
I have used this bike for about one season. I built it mid season about last year this time. I bought the frame from Performance bike and then sent it out to be powder coated translucent burnt orange. The frame and parts are in great shape with just the normal cable rub and small scuffs. The left crank arm has some marks from hitting rocks but nothing that affects the function. The part spec is as follows:
Frame: Access custom powder coated (size LARGE)
Fork: Manitou Minute ABS+
Cranks: Truvativ 1.1
Pedals: Sealed bearing platform
BB: Eccentric Forward Components (no tensioner needed w/ vertical d.o.'s)
Wheels: RB Design hubs w/ WTB rims and alloy nipples
Tires: front Schwalbe Racing Ralph, rear Kenda Nevegal w/ puncture resistance liners in both
Brakes: Hope Mono Mini w/ custom one finger levers,185/160 rotors (I will also include the stock ones)
Stem: Ritchey WCS
Handlebar: Ritchey Carbon
Seatpost: Ritchey Carbon
Grips: ODI Lock-on
Seat: WTB
The seatpost has a crack in it so I'm also including a alloy one. I have been using this post since I built the bike with no problems. I will also include two sets of brake pads and two tires. One Schwalbe Racing Ralph (has a small cut in the side wall) and one new Maxxis Ardent. Asking $1000 and I will drive to meet anyone within 3 hours of Chambersburg, PA. Shipping is available though.

new trails begin Saturday
Hopefully, we MBMers can help out our fellow MTB clubs with this build. I know I'll be out there in the Fall. I won't be there Saturday though, and am hoping someone can go and represent.
***
From the man behind the new trails build (Austin Steo):
Show of volunteers for 1st work day
When it's all done the trail system planned in Emmitsburg will be the next best place to ride between Fredrock and Michaux. Having a good turn out for the first volunteer work day will be a great help for morale and to show community support. We all know more people ride trails than maintain or build them. And once you start riding there, you will be back. There will be something for all riders: beginner, intermediate, advanced--boulders, slick rock and all. We are just clearing the corridor this Saturday.
Come on down!
Date: Saturday, August 13, 2011
Time: 8am- 1pm
Location: Rainbow Lake on Hampton Valley Road. Google Maps link.

Mo Valley YMCA Bike Race
Hey if you got the hankering to ride some Strange or race or help out a good cause or all 3 come up to Black Moshannon (near State College) on Saturday Aug 13. 11am start time - $25 bucks gets you in. All racer fees go directly to the YMCA.
We had a blast last year tho I aged years doing it - not sure how these real promoters sleep at nite. Anywho, its a fun course with super fern-age and maybe a surprise or too if the park allows me : )
More info on bike reg:
http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=12905
The race course is mostly rolling with roots and few rock gardens. If you want to make it a weekend there are more super technical and 'rustic' trails, just let me know.
Thanks!!!

Sunday Hunting Update
Latest story on the push for Sunday hunting:
http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2011/07/legalization_of_sunday_hunting.html
The voices opposing this need to be heard. It's telling that the article only refers to "hikers and bird-watchers" as other user groups joining the side against Sunday hunting. No mention of mountain bikers or equestrians.
The pro-Sunday hunting advocates are pushing the economic benefits, but do they mention how much money will be lost through other users staying home, out of state tourists not coming in duringthe fall and leaf-peeping seasons? What negative impact might that have?
Evans, the sponsor of the bill, says that he was "presented with the facts" but by whom? The groups pushing for Sunday hunting. Those "facts" are slanted to achieve the desired ends. What are all the facts?
If you haven't sent a message stating your opinion on this yet, please do so. If you have, you might consider sending it again.
